"hello"

Brave is defiantly a word I relate to when thinking about my choice to sell peekaboo. It took courage to take the finally jump, putting my baby out there in the world for someone else to love.

I am incredibly happy to announce that peekaboo has found a new happy home and next week will continue its incredible journey under the careful guidance of it's new mother. (Stay tuned for the media release next week)

Peekaboo has been nothing short of amazing. I started with a piece of paper and a pen on my kitchen bench and today I have successfully printed ten titles over three years and three states. The ups have been enlightening and downs have been constructive. Probably one of the nicest parts of the peekaboo journey has been the people I have met and life long friends I have made.
A massive thank you to everyone that supported my vision at the start and took a punt on advertising with us. I will be forever grateful.

Lastly a huge thank you to my team you made peekaboo a better place, I will miss working with you guys.

So here is to a sad good bye and a wonderful new hello.

LOVE LIFE AND THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD TIMES!

Change is hard

The Change

The last six months for me have been MASSIVE, deciding to sell, the selling process and now the handover (soon to be announced) along with my everyday life which has been physically and emotionally one of the biggest I have ever encountered.
Last night I realised that I keep making excuses, blaming people, places, sleep, time and worst of all saying "yeah but my kids..." I then found this quote:

Maybe you don't like your job, maybe you didn't get enough sleep, well nobody likes their job, nobody got enough sleep. Maybe you just had the worst day of your life, but you know, there's no escape, there's no excuse, so just suck up and be nice. ~Ani Difranco

So I am taking ownership of my decisions, words and actions, starting today I am finding gratitude and beauty in the small things, even paying it forward when I get an opportunity. Because... you can't live a positive life with a negative mind!

Vege Patch Serenity

Recently I bought some herb and vegetable seedlings that I have never made time to plant. Funny that! But today I found the time! Filled up the water can, put on the gardening gloves and got down and dirty. The serenity that came with it was beautiful. Seriously the inner peace I found by just getting outdoors and planting a simple vege patch was amazing! Just 30 mins and the result  has been so uplifting, and that makes today feel more approachable.

So here's to a new direction and new opportunities; small or big they all count!

Enjoy,

Bianca xxx

A ray of sunshine...

Sunday Bliss... oh how I do love a hint of sunshine on a winters day! We didn't want to waste a second of the glorious weather so first stop Rocklea Markets. It was great, trash and treasure for miles but also good coffee, the food choices are great and a huge selection of cheap fresh flowers.

After that we headed up to the sunny coast to the beautiful Strawberry Fields  the girls just loved it, and so did we. It is a really beautiful spot, a playground, a cafe and heaps of seating and grass to bring out the picnic rug and basket. The best bit by far was picking the strawberries, the girls had so much fun.
Make sure you head up it is a great day out!

Peekaboo For Sale

I know crazy right! But true.

When I started Peekaboo magazine I physically had a three year goal. Three years to accomplish a free luxury, boutique style magazine that was in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Along with a huge list of other goals. This June is three years and I am proud to say that 99% of my goals have been accomplished.

My peekaboo journey has been positively life changing and something I would not change for anything. It might seem weird to some, but now I would like to find new parents for peekaboo, a new home of devotion and love. I believe and know that I have built an amazing business, a business that is now someone else's opportunity. With the right adoption process and selection, Peekaboo has a beautiful future, and I am proud to have founded it, but also recognise that my time with peekaboo is coming to an end.

For the right mined person this is an amazing opportunity and I look forward to sharing the new owners with you in the next few months.

Green Bananas

I credit a lot of my peekaboo success to having a mentor. I person to bounce ideas off, a person to say, hang on wrong way and a person to support me with business direction and options.
Recently, by accident, I discovered I was able to provide these services to so many people trying to start out or even re evaluating their business.
With my business and marketing knowledge from my previous career coupled with the massive life experience that has been peekaboo, I realised I had a wealth of knowledge perfect for the all mums in small and home based business. So Green Bananas was born! The website launches later in the month.

I am really looking forward to sharing my experiences and help small business ripen!

Meal planning

Life is complicated enough and one element I always do at the last minute is dinner! I simply spend way too much money at the supermarket on food items I think I will use and then every night put something together off the top of my head... seriously needs to change. The wastage alone is crazy!

So next week I have a plan and I will be shopping accordingly. Here is the gluten free food plan:

Sunday: Chicken Risotto - great served with some fresh english spinach leaves

Monday: Steak Salad - cheaper version change the steak to chopped up gluten free sausages

Tuesday: Chicken Parmigiana

Wednesday: Pasta - can add some pancetta on top if you like

Thursday: Fish and Roast Pumpkin Salad

Friday: Homemade Pizza

Saturday: Chicken Skewers with rice - change the rice to salad for a lighter dinner

Baking:

Blueberry muffins
Nut and Fruit Biscuits

Well I will be back next week to let you know how things are travelling. Love to know you if you a system that works!

Week 1

Ok so raw and steamed vegetables only is a lot harder than you think!!!

I have managed 5 days of a little clean out...don't know if it was cheating but I did add in a very little amount of poached chicken and boiled eggs to the mix to help me get through.
I basically lived on raw vegetables during the day, lots of salads and then steamed veges at night. I do feel heaps better and not as tired in the mornings.

I started the challenge on monday at 74kgs and today after eating really well and continuing light exercise I jump on the scales this morning to see 72.1kgs so super excited that we are heading in the right direction!

So today I started the 28 Day Diet Exercise Plan designed by Rhian at Lose Baby Weight. Fantastically Lose Baby Weight have these shakes to help you on your weight loss journey and also cater for dairy, soy and gluten allergies, which is perfect for me. I had my first allergy free milkshake this morning with rice milk, ice and a banana and it was so good.

I am really look forward to getting into the swing of things and reporting back along the way, so stay tuned! I would love to know how you are going on your weight loss journey too, please leave a note below...

A healthy start...

2011 for me brought some answers but also some hard times as far as my health and diet are concerned. I was initially diagnosed with Coeliac's disease and a lactose intolerance, which for a foodie like me was a huge upset to my daily food intake! Then just before Christmas I also was diagnosed with an under-active thyroid, not the worst thing in the world, but not the best either!
But now on daily medication and with an under-active metabolism, maintaining or losing weight has been near impossible and the cravings for gluten products still haunt me! So that brings me to my new healthy start.

So this morning I started and the first week for me is a simple clean out...back to basics fresh veggies either raw or steamed, water and green tea.  Then continuing on with the support and resources of the beautiful Rhian at Lose Baby Weight! Super excited.

As for exercise I am trying out some different options to keep it interesting; bootcamp once a week, hot yoga once a week and then some swimming.

So I will keep you updated on my progress and recipes along the way.

Wish me luck!!

I thought I would share it with you all because it is super easy, quick, healthy but still super yummy, so great for the LUNCHBOX! Oh yeah and gluten and lactose free!! Heidi loves them.

Super Proud!

Today we started our 24hr auction to help raise money and awareness for the cause that took beautiful little Stella way before her time. And WOW!! People are bidding and bidding great amounts. Since I started the process of donating to Stella and her family to today's auction I have been overwhelmed with emails, comments, donations, gifts and everything in-bewteen. AMAZING! I am completely blown away with the generosity and effort of so many people so quickly.

So this is a MASSIVE thank you to all involved from both myself and Stella's mother Chelsea. We are so very pleased you could help to make Stella's memory live on not only for her family but in the hearts of so many others. Now having watched Chelsea's story, I will never take mine or my children's health for granted.

On a personal note my eldest daughter Claudia who is 3 and 1/2 years old has been very interested in all the work I have been doing for Stella and every time I have a picture on my screen of Stella, she will ask who is that?  and so I have explained it all to her. Then on our recent trip to Melbourne, in the plane Claudia had the window seat, she turned to my husband and said "mummy I can't see Stella, which cloud is she on?"!!
Then this morning I was getting all the items together for the auction and Claudia asked who's dress I had and I said it is for Stella and she replied "are you sending it to the cloud?"
Children and family is so precious so please love and enjoy every minute you have with them. xxx

Big love to the Marshall family your strength amazes me. xxx

Heidi's first birthday

This time last year the raining felt like it would never end and for so so many it caused complete devastation. We where fortunate enough not to be living in a flood affected area and had just arrived home with our newborn baby girl, Heidi.
Within hours of arriving home my beautiful friend Naomi from naomivphotography.com.au came and took some amazing pictures

But now a year has passed and we have just celebrated her first birthday with a fun day at the pool (http://www.salc.com.au/)!

& 2012 begins...

For the first time in 23 years (way too long) we ventured to Melbourne for Christmas to spend it with my Nana and Gramps. It was incredibly special for my two girls to spend Christmas with their Great Grandmother otherwise know as "Nana G".
On boxing day we then headed up to my husband's aunties house in Yarck, Victoria for New Years Eve. What a magical place!
Hills that roll for miles and people that really know what community spirit is all out. For our girls it is a chance to run free...no worries, well apart from the constant worry of bees, snakes or farm vehicles coming and going! But they did have a wonderful time, so wonderful Claudia forgot that she still has a daytime sleep and well lets just say she went into some serious overdrive. Not so pretty! But most of the time she had a smile from ear to ear.
